Sonic Keys (AKA Nick Pound) is a true artistic example that you’re never too late to make a sensational entrance into the world of music. He is a testament to why you should never give up on your dreams and have the patience to follow the path no matter the twists and turns. With an authentic blend of soul-powering falsetto voice and contemporary piano style, he will captivate your soul and have you reaching for the stars on every note.
Nick brings the FGF (Feel Good Factor) to his audience. Positivity and optimism is what he wants to share, along with his own personal hardships and experiences, speaking a universal language.
Now in his 30’s, Nick’s direction in music has seen him write and perform in crossover genres such as piano, house and trip hop. He has found his calling inspired by Soul & R’N’B artists such as Billy Joel, Simply Red, Massive Attack & Kygo.
You will ask the question, “Where has he been hiding?”
Nick started singing and playing piano from the tender age of 7 and songwriting from 15 years. He has won numerous local songwriting competitions in Brisbane, and has even sung in front of Danni Minogue, Westlife’s very own Brian McFadden and roughly 2000 spectators on
Australia’s Got Talent in 2012.
Sonic Keys’ debut hit single “Unchain My Soul” highlights his sublime piano skills as well as ear catching lyrics featuring his signature falsetto range. The song highlights a lifetime struggle that Nick has had with self-confidence and being independent. His soon to be released debut EP was written in part a few days after his Dad took his own life back in August 2022.
Music and songwriting has always been Nick’s escape. His creativity allowed him to find safe harbor during extremely difficult times. His debut single, Unchain my Soul, gives Nick a catalyst for release and permission to follow his dreams in an empowering way. To ultimately leave his mark.
“Music, singing and song-writing has always been a calling to me. I can’t think of a time where music hasn’t been part of my daily ritual.
I’m not gonna lie, my upbringing certainly wasn’t a rosy picture. Bullied at school I would always hide myself away in piano rooms, playing songs to pass the time.
My adorable wife and our amazing families have pushed me to open up my soul to the world and share my own personal experiences with my song writing.
I want to be a voice within the Soul & R’N’B circuit, giving people amazing, authentic, magical moments with my songs and to help those in their hour of need. If my songs can do that I know that I will have accomplished something more powerful than money and fame can provide.”
Sonic Keys is set to release “Unchain My Soul” & “Stick Together” over the air waves in the coming months.
If you cannot wait until then, Nick will be performing at various open mics & DJ events around the Brisbane area from July onwards, so make sure you were there first.
Sonic Keys maybe a latecomer to the party, but has so much to offer the Australian music industry. Determined, an underdog and having risen from the ashes,there is nothing that will stop Nick from succeeding with his nouveau soul sound and captivating voice.
