Singer/songwriter Vanessa Delaine moved to the beautiful country border towns of Albury/Wodonga close to ten years ago and reconnected with her musical roots. Two albums later, countless awards, charting success internationally and here at home, she is celebrating 25 years since writing and recording her first album which encompasses an original blend of Country, Blues and Roots.
‘One Girl Band 25 Years’ was written and recorded in Sydney in 1995. It placed in five prestigious song-writing awards including; NZ Gold Guitars Song-writing Awards and Tamworth Songwriters Association Awards.
The album was recorded at a time when digital music platforms and social media didn’t exist and getting access to airplay on radio was almost impossible for unknown artist in 1995, so this One Girl Band has been delighted to see all the love her old remastered songs have been receiving and determined to not let covid get her down. An Album Launch Party accompanied by her kids singing with her in her home music room was held in May 2020.
Her hit songs ‘One Girl Band’ peaked at #3 in Australia, #2 in Europe and #8 in USA, and ‘How Can He Love You’ peaked at #6 in Australia, #5 in USA and #21 in Europe.
Latest single ‘Forever and a Day’ was released early September 2020 and has debuted at #29 on the Country Barnyard 305 Top200 Singles Chart Summer 2020 in the USA, and #23 on Australian Country Music Airplay Chart.
In 2017 Delaine won Best Female Performer at The American Tracks Awards, was a finalist for Female Vocalist of the Year at Gold Media Medallion Awards. Her music videos have been awarded close to 20 awards at international film festivals.
She is at home telling stories and singing clever lyrics and loves to connect with her audience. She gracefully moves through styles/genres. Whether solo or duo is captivating and leaves audiences wanting more.
The kiwi born Aussie has performed her original music at Music Festivals around Australia, toured extensively and been performing on both sides of the Tasman since childhood. These days Vanessa proudly calls Australia home.
