Not to Blame, Flint’s latest single, is a kick back to the post-punk days of yonder. Heavy guitars with driving chord progressions are a nod to punk and post-punk influences on the band. Differences can lead to finger pointing and blame can be thrown around so easily. The angst in the chorus plays on the torment we all feel when the accusations are let loose.
Not to Blame is unlike the band’s previous material, which has leant on a 90’s grunge sound. This latest single ventures further back into the list of historical influences, snagging the feel of the global post-punk movement in the late 70s and early 80s.
