Bio :
D.B.L.U. (pronounced like the letter W) is an upcoming independent hip-hop artist located in rural Ballarat. Inspired by the compound rhyme schemes of Rakim and Royce Da 5’9, Will began creating music around 2018.
Writing and recording short songs throughout high school, over the last two years he has pivoted to taking his music seriously, actively seeking out opportunities to release and perform his work. Utilising complicated lyrical patterns and rhyme schemes to analyse his own world, his music acts as an outlet for self-expression and exploration, with nearly every song marked with his signature ‘swung’ flows.
In 2025, Will was selected as a part of the City of Ballarat's Be Hear Now program, an artist development and mentoring program focused on emerging local artists.
Will's musical horizons are broad, largely due to his active membership of Room 51, a Ballarat/Melbourne-based rock band. Performing frequent live sets with this collective, he has recently stepped into the solo spotlight, with his debut sets as part of the Get Down Challenge and Academy Industry Showcase in 2025.
His debut EP 'Smoke Screen' released on the 8th of August, almost immediately followed by his Be Hear Now single 'Safe Levels', created in collaboration with Room 51.
